Конечно, я больше никогда не видела Королеву. Она начала слабеть той же осенью (1900 г.) после возвращения домой из Балморала и умерла в Осборне 22 января 1901 г. — прекрасная смерть, безболезненная, во сне, в окружении всех своих детей и внуков. Исчезла не только Королева — исчез век. Англия вступит в новую фазу — но она должна отличаться от главы, которая только что закрылась.
